Antoni Rayzhekov is a Bulgarian media-artist and performance maker living in Vienna since 2008. He studied theater directing and performing at National Theater and Film Academy – Sofia, Jazz Music Improvisation at Vienna Konservatorium and informational technologies -as a vocational training at LearningTree, London. In 2008 he co-founded the Viennese new media label THIS.PLAY and is a guest lecturer in Experimental Media at the University for Applied Sciences in St.Pölten (Austria) and a lecturer in Digital Arts at the National Academy for FineArts – Sofia. Antoni was artist in residence in S.T.E.I.M, DansMakers (NL), SubnetAIR Salzburg (AT), Akademie Hallein (AT), Atelier Arts Sciences(FR) among others and in 2016 was selected as a fellow in Performing Arts at Akademie Schloss Solitude – Stuttgart. In his media-compositions and performances he is borrowing from contemporary theatre, music and dance performance practices, developing generative music and motion graphics compositions, creating audiovisual works based on interactive technologies and using techniques such as sonification, musification, artificial behavioral and unstable systems. He works as an educator across Europe within the field of Digital Arts, Sonic Arts and performance. Through designing and building performative “instruments”, he situate the media as a creative partner and often as a protagonist and an author, in addition to employing the audience as an active participator and co-author. By embedding the poetics and artistic intent of his compositions directly into a technological representation, he attempts to uncover and reveal hidden processes and entanglements, often at the border of unpredictable results, letting the artwork unfold “here and now”.
