Akademie Schloss Solitude is situated in a large hillside park, about five kilometres west of Stuttgart [map]. It is within easy reach by public transportation, both from the Stuttgart central train station (about half an hour by subway and bus), or from the airport (about 50 minutes by subway and bus). Taxi transfer is also available, but can cost up to 50€ (one way). We recommend that you make your travel arrangements to Stuttgart as soon as possible. Akademie Schloss Solitude will provide you with detailed local travel information closer to the date of the symposium. In the meantime, if you have any questions concerning travel, please contact Martin directly at: martin dot zeilinger at anglia.ac.uk
Akademie Schloss Solitude will provide on-site accommodation for all participants, for the duration of the symposium. Check-In will be possible by 10am on Thursday, June 7th. Check-out will be Saturday, June 9th, in the afternoon.
For presentations we have made sure to design a format that maximizes critical dialogue and discussion: presenters will have 20 minutes for their presentations, followed by a 30-minute discussion period at the end of each 3-paper session. Paper presentations are schedule for Friday, with Saturday morning reserved for open discussion and journal contribution workshopping.
We are very excited to announce two keynotes for the symposium, which will be delivered by computer art pioneer Frieder Nake and net.art pioneer Olia Lialina on Thursday and Friday evening, respectively.
We are also happy to confirm performances by filmmaker and cultural theorist Eric Cazdyn (CAN), improvised music veterans Foci+Loci (Tamara Yadao and Chris Burke; US), and current Bosch resident, Antoni Rayzhekov (BUL). Additional performance programming will be announced shortly.
